Syntax of the Mutable

Syntax of the Mutable

Syntax of the Mutable brings together works by Erika Keck, Shirley Tse, Alfredo Gisholt, Kyle Slevira, and Green Yoon, exploring how abstraction today emerges as a porous and embodied language. Across painting and sculpture, these artists stretch and fracture the legacies of modernism—testing the tension between structure and entropy, gesture and system, body and environment.
Erika Keck’s layered grids unravel formal order into sensuous, tactile surfaces. Shirley Tse’s sculptural assemblages merge the industrial with the organic, transforming geometry into something living and contingent. Alfredo Gisholt’s painterly fields evoke landscapes as poetic and mythic spaces, while Kyle Slevira’s work navigates abstraction through hybridity—where materials and forms fuse into fluid, cross-disciplinary identities. Green Yoon’s works channel abstraction as a site of ecological and digital anxiety, tracing the unstable thresholds between the natural and the synthetic.
Together, the artists propose a renewed material consciousness—where marks, forms, and structures act less as fixed symbols than as mutable syntax. The exhibition invites viewers to encounter abstraction not as a retreat from the world, but as a way of reentering it—through complexity, entanglement, and touch.
